First Aid at Work Basic

The First Aid at Work qualification gives an in depth understanding of first aid and includes fundamental, theoretical and practical aspects of first aid management. This qualification enables meets the stator requirements of the First Aid Regulations and enables the participant to act as the first aid response within the workplace. This certification is valid for three years and suitable for medium to high risk working environments and business needs.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 states ‘that those employers, their first aiders and emergency first aiders, together should organiseand provide first aid, according to the needs of the organisation. Entry Information

This qualification can be completed as an individual unit or as part of package or amalgamated qualification. There are no academic prerequisites for learners wishing to complete this course although a basic level of literacy is required. The qualification is suitable for learners 16+ who must be physically capable of demonstrating the practical requirement of the assessment as detailed.

Assessment methods

Completion of three multiple choice test papers scoring a minimum of 60% 6/10 (day 1 and day 2) and 60% 15 /25 (day 3)

Must physically demonstrate:

•Recovery position
•Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
•Procedures for controlling bleeding
•Dealing with specific types of injuries –chest wounds, crush injuries, amputations
•Treatment for a dislocation or fracture

Levels of competences will be recorded on the learner’s qualification assessment paper and independently verified.
