Course Introduction
The Emergency First Aid at Work + Paediatrics course (Emergency PFA) is intended to give a basic understanding of first aid and to introduce the participant to the fundamental, theoretical and practical aspects of first aid management. It also includes giving aid to paediatric casualties. This certification is valid for three years and suitable for low risk working environments and environments who may be involved in the care of children.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 states ‘that those employers, their first aiders and emergency first aiders, together shouldorganise and provide first aid, according to the needs of the organisation. Entry Information
This qualification can be completed as an individual unit or as part of package or amalgamated qualification. There are no academic prerequisites for learners wishing to complete this course although a basic level of literacy is required. The qualification is suitable for learners 16+ who must be physically capable of demonstrating the practical requirement of the assessment as detailed.
Assessment methods
Must physically demonstrate:
- Recovery position
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Procedures for controlling bleeding
Progression
There are no specific academic progression paths from this qualification however the Emergency First Aid at Work unit will lay the foundation for the (three day FAW) level 3 First Aid at Work qualification.
Requalification
The Emergency First Aid at Work certificate is valid for three years and requalification requires full training and assessment again in conjunction with the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the unit.

course for?
This course is aimed at organisations which are low risk and where there is a duty of care for children and adults. This includes Schools, organisations and children’s groups.
